What year is the boat?

2003

What documentation might you have on the condition of the engine and are the air bladders holding air properly?

The lower end is a remanufacture from a rebuild outfit and the pistons and cylinders are new from California Power Systems with the rest of the components original and with low hobbs time. I have done all of the mechanic work as I am certified under Sport Pilot regulations and I have a copy of certification however, the engine would obviously want to be gone through with the proper checks by any new owner before returning to an aviation environment. I have it listed 'as is' however the engine has always started right up and has no problem obtaining and keeping Rotax recommended engine speeds and temps.

The three bladder chambers are in great shape as the rig has always been stored indoors and used only in fresh water. I also reduce the storage and travel stress to the bladders by keeping the chamber pressures low until ready for use. It comes with a high volume foot bellows pump which brings the bladders to proper pressure within minutes and with little effort and once there they do hold the pressure. I know that the sun heats the air inside the chambers so if you store the bladders full indoors or in the shade and then drag it down the road on the trailer in the sun, the bladders will expand beyond what might be a proper pressure so I do store and trailer it with low pressure in the chambers.

Does this water craft come with the trailer shown?

Yes, everything on the trailer to include the trailer for the one low price. MD law requires me to turn in the trailer tags at time of sale but a Bill of Sale and the signed Title for the trailer with the Maryland DMV and the boat documents from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources should allow the buyer to tow the complete package to their destination.

Was it actually built and delivered without a prop shroud?

It was originally designed as an aircraft so no shroud was originally part of the design. Now that it will no longer be an aircraft due to the long passed FAA deadline I have registered it as a boat.

Is it equipped with an Hour Meter?

The instrumentation panel has Duel EGT & CHT gages, a tachometer, a water temperature gage, and the Hobbs currently at 14+ hours. There is an electric fuel pump to feed the oil-injected and water cooled engine started by an electric starter. The engine also has the conventional rope start installed but I have never had to use it.

Where has it been used?

The original owner lived and operated it on a lake somewhere in Tennessee and I have only operated it on the Potomac River in Charles County. The previous owner always stored it in a huge shop and I have always stored it in my garage which is why it almost looks new.

What's its cruising speed with 500# of people and gear aboard?

I am 180lb and I have a friend I would put at 250lb - conservatively. Water conditions were 1 foot waves or less with 10lb in the net bag and a full 10 gallon gas tank and we scooted along at 22mph one direction and 24mph the opposite direction with the rudder and propeller modified for water conditions - according to the borrowed Garmin on board for speed tests. The three chamber inflatable boat with full aluminum hull does not leak however wave splash-over does occur at speed or during 1 foot or more wave conditions so there is also a working bilge pump on board.

Is this craft able to be returned to flying condition, or is it structurally damaged? Do you have the wing?

The wing and attachment was damaged by a tow operator a year before the FAA Sport Aircraft certification deadline ( ), so it will never be able to be legally flown as originally designed. It has been registered as a water craft with the State of Maryland.

Yes, given Airframe Mechanic skills and resources it can be made to fly again however the original manufacturer has been out of business for almost 10 years so replacement parts for the airframe are non-existent but more importantly the FAA deadline has passed for certification.

I still have everything however the structural support for the wing and the wing itself suffered all of the damage.  The wings aluminum frame took a few bends and the fabric has rips. You would have to be extremely skilled with airframe construction or have access to manufacturer spare parts to consider returning it to aviation and it would have to be a country with less aviation restrictions.

How do you steer it? I don't see a rudder or any type of turning vanes.

It has a rudder at the back of the boat in the water that is foot pedal operated by the person in the front seat.

Is engine air cooled or does it have a radiator somewhere?

The engine is water cooled by the two small radiators to the rear of the cylinder heads.

What is the make up and diameter of the props? Also do you know how much wind speed it can generate?

It is a 3-blade composite Powerfin prop and it's 25-7/8" from tip to center. I do not know the wind speed it generates as I never stood behind it with a windmeter. The Rotax 582 is rated at 65HP and the boat scoots across the water at 23mph with two large adults on board - the borrowed GPS quit working before I could do a single adult run to test speeds.

Does $3,500.00+ bidding include the PSRU redrive and Prop?

Yes, everything on the engine goes with the engine along with the boat and trailer it’s sitting on.

Why are you selling it?

My original thought was to sell the Rotax to someone in aviation or snowmobiles and then install a standard boat motor on the inflatable for myself but other interests have taken its place which is why the total rig is priced at half the cost of a complete engine only.
