MOST 1968 AND 1969 ARROWS HAD A UNIQUE, CHEAP, WING LEVELOR ONLY AUTOPILOT INSTALLED FROM THE FACTORY.

THESE SYSTEMS ARE NO LONGER MAINTAINABLE.

THIS AIRPLANE WAS UPGRADED TO THE VENERABLE AUTOCONTROL III (A DIFFERENT, PIPER SPECIFIC FACEPLATE ON THE RELIABLE CENTURY II AUTOPILOT.

THIS SYSTEM GIVES WING LEVELING, HEADING CONTROL WITH THE INCLUDED D.G. WITH HEADING BUG, AND THIS AIRCRAFT ALSO HAS THE OPTIONAL RADIO TRACKER, WHICH WILL FOLLW A VOR OR GPS SIGNAL!

I HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF HOURS BEHIND THIS SYSTEM IN ONE AIRPLANE OR ANOTHER, AND IN OUR ARROW, I PROBABLY WOULD BE MUNCHING A RITZ CRACKER WITH A SLICE OF SUMMER SAUSAGE AND SOME SQUEEZE CHEESE (THANKS FOR ALWAYS BRINGING THE PICNIC BASKET JACQUIE!).

WHEN COMBINED WITH THE FACTORY ELECTRIC PITCH TRIM, LIKE THIS AIRPLANE IS, I ALWAYS WONDERED WHY YOU WOULD NEED AN ALTITUDE HOLD AUTOPILOT!

ENOUGH NOSTALGIA, BUT REALLY, I LIKE THESE AIRPLANES!!

THIS AIRCRAFT WAS UPDATED IN 1995 WITH NEW PAINT, IN A 4 COLOR SCHEME (WHITE, GREY STRIP, BLACK STRIPE, AND A FETCHING MEDIUM METALLIC BLUE THAT I LOVE!!)

GREAT RAMP PRESENCE, AND STANDS OUT FROM OTHER CHEROKEES!!

THE INTERIOR HAS BEEN UPDATED AS WELL, TO A VERY PLUSH GREY GATHERED AND PADDED INTERIOR THAT CODDLES YOU!!

THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED IN 2001 WITH A LYCOMING FACTORY REMANUFACTURED ENGINE (NOT JUST AN OVERHAUL).

THIS ENGINE STARTS THE CLOCK OVER AT ZERO!!

AT THE SAME TIME, A BRAND NEW 3 BLADED HARTZELL PROP WAS INSTALLED, FOR SMOOTHNESS, EVEN BETTER CLIMB, AND OH YEAH, IT JUST LOOKS SEXIER!!

FOR ADSB OUT COMPLIENCE, A FREEFLIGHT DIGITA; SYSTEM WAS INSTALLED, WITH IT’S OWN WAAS GPS. LIKE HAVING A SECOND TRANSPONDER IN THE AIRPLANE!!

THE OWNER OF THIS AIRPLANE INSTALLED A GARMIN 430 GPS/NAV/COM IN THE EARLY 2000’S, BUT NEVER BOTHERED TO UPDATE IT TO WAAS.

WE HAVE OMMITTED IT FROM THIS SALE, BUT LEFT THE TRAY AND CONNECTORS INSTALLED AND WIRED, AND THE ANTENNAS MOUNTED.

THIS GIVES YOU LOTS OF CHOICES:

OMIT THE GPS/NAV/COM ALTOGETHER, USE THE KX-125 AND A HANDHELD GPS OR IPAD, FOR VFR FLIGHT.

INSTALL A NON-WAAS 430, NOW OR IN THE FUTURE.

INSTALL A WAAS 430 IN THIS TRAY, TAKES 30 SECONDS, AND IT WILL FUNCTION FINE, BUT NOT GIVE YOU WAAS UNTIL YOU UPDATE THE GPS ANTENNA

INSTALL AN AVIDYNE IFD 440 IN THIS TRAY, WHICH USES THE SAME WIRING AS THE 430

UPGRADE EVEN FURTHER, TO A GARMIN 650 OR 750 TOUCHSCREEN, NOW OR IN THE FUTURE (REWIRING WILL BE REQUIRED).

ALL OF THESE TYPES ARE READILY AVAILABLE USED, FROM US OR OTHERS, NOW OR IN THE FUTURE.

THIS AIRPLANE ALSO HAS SOME NICE EXTRAS, SUCH AS A VERTICAL CARD COMPASS ON THE DASH, A PLANE POWER LIGHTWEIGHT ALTERNATOR AND A LIGHTWEIGHT SKYTEK STARTER.

THIS NICE AIRPLANE RECEIVED HAIL PINGS FROM A STORM THAT PASSED OVER THE AIRPORT IT WAS VISITING IN COLORADO. (THE AIRPLANE HAS BEEN OKLAHOMA BASED, AND MAINTAINED BY THE SAME SHOP, SINCE 1999)

THE PINGS ARE VISIBLE ON ALL OF THE TOP SURFACES, PLUS A FEW ON THE LEFT TAILCONE SIDE, AND ALL 3 OF THE LEFT WINDOWS WERE BROKEN.

WE PATCHED THE WINDOWS UP AND FLEW THE AIRPLANE BACK TO MINNESOTA WITHOUT ANY ISSUES.

BUT WHILE STILL IN COLORADO, BEFORE WE COULD FLY IT HOME, WE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP WITH A NEW ONE (IT WAS LEAKING) AND REPLACED THE BATTERY WITH BRAND NEW ($1,500 WORTH YOU WONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT).

WHILE IT HAS BEEN AT OUR AIRPORT, THE ANNUAL HAS EXPIRED, SO YOUR MECHANIC WILL WANT TO OBTAIN A FERRY PERMIT TO FLY WITH AN EXPIRED ANNUAL, AND PERFORM THE ANNUAL WHEN YOU GET THE AIRPLANE BACK HOME.

ANY RATED PILOT CAN FERRY THE AIRPLANE HOME, IT IS READY TO GO, AND A MECHANIC OR TEST PILOT IS NOT REQUIRED!
