1965 CESSNA 172F, 2733TTAF, 781 SMOH 0-300A, NO PROP STRIKE, UGLY PAINT, LITTLE DAMAGE, LITTLE PRICE!!

THIS IS JUST AN AVERAGE OLD 1965 CESSNA 172.

THE PAINT IS POOR, WITH LARGE AREAS FLAKING OFF OR CRUMBLING.  THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT IT DOESN’T LOOK HALF BAD FROM 50 FEET !!

THE EVEN BETTER NEWS IS THAT IT IS FOR SALE HERE CHEAP, BUT IT’S BARELY DAMAGED !!

THIS AIRPLANE WAS TIPPED ONTO IT’S RIGHT SIDE WHILE TIED DOWN IN A HIGH WIND.

THE AIRPLANE DID NOT FLIP OVER AND IN FACT DID NOT PUT MUCH WEIGHT ONTO THE RIGHT WING, AS EVIDENCED BY THE BOLT-ON WINGTIP NOT BEING DAMAGED !!

THERE IS A VERY SMALL CREASE IN THE OUTBOARD RIGHT WING SKIN, SHOWN WITH A QUARTER FOR REFERENCE ON HOW SMALL IT IS.

WHEN WE REMOVED THE TIP, WE FOUND A VERY SMALL DENT IN THE TOP OF THE OUTBOARD RIB IN THE AREA OF THE CREASE.

THESE ARE THE ONLY DAMAGE TO THE WING!!

NO DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE, GEAR, COWLINGS, CABIN OR GLASS AND NO DAMAGE TO THE LEFT WING.

THE ONLY OTHER DAMAGE FOUND IS TO THE RIGHT HORIZONTAL, AT THE OUTBOARD REAR EDGE, HAS A SMALL KINK IN THE SKIN(SHOWN).  THE RIGHT ELEVATOR HAS SEVERAL OF THE SKIN TRIANGLES PUSHED UP SLIGHTLY, BUT NO ACTUAL IMPACT MARKS, SO THIS MAY HAVE BEEN PRE-EXISTING.

NO OTHER DAMAGE FROM THE WIND EVENT, AND NO OTHER OBVIOUS DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE IS VISIBLE.

THE PROP LOOKS GOOD AND WAS NOT TOUCHED, AND THE COWLING, SPINNER AND FIREWALL ARE UNDAMAGED.

INSIDE, THE REAR SPLIT-BACK SEAT LOOKS PRETTY GOOD IN RED, BUT THE FRON T SEAT UPHOLSTRY ISNT VERY GOOD AND THEY ARE COVERED.

THE DASH LOOKS GOOD, AND IN FACT ALL OF THE GUAGES ARE CLEAN AND CLEAR, AND THE ATTITUDE IS A LATE MODEL WITH COLORED BACKGROUND AND THE D.G. IS A MODERN VERTICAL CARD.

ALSO NOTE THE VERTICAL CARD COMPASS ON THE DASH.

THE RADIOS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE, BUT THE TRAYS ARE STILL INSTALLED AND WIRED FOR A KING COMM, A TERRA NAV-COM (THE DIGITAL TERRA CDI INDICATOR IS STILL INSTALLED AND INCLUDED) AND A NARCO MODE “C” TRANSPONDER.

UNDER THE UNDAMAGED COWLING, THE PAINT ON THE ENGINE AND ENGINE ACCESSORIES LOOKS JUST AS BAD AS IT DOES ON THE AIRPLANE.

IN LOOKING AT THE LOGBOOKS, THIS IS WHAT I FOUND:

THIS AIRCRAFT HAD AN ANNUAL INSPECTION IN SEPTEMBER OF 2017, SO THE ANNUAL JUST RAN OUT A MONTH AGO.

THE COMPRESSIONS ON THE 0-300 ENGINE WERE QUITE GOOD, AT 70/72/72/76/74/76 OVER 80 !!THE CURRENT ENGINE TIME SINCE MAJOR IS 781.

ACCORDING TO THE LOGS, THE AIRPLANE (AIRFRAME AND ENGINE), AT THE TIME OF THE 2017 ANNUAL ONLY HAD 3 HOURS SINCE THE LAST ANNUAL, IN SEPTEMBER OF 1999!!

SINCE THE COMPRESSIONS WERE GOOD ON THE ENGINE, NOT MUCH MORE THAN AN OIL CHANGE, CLEAN AND INSPECT THE SCREENS (NO METAL FOUND) RAN IT UP, NO LEAKS FOUND, AND IT WAS GOOD TO GO FOR THE ANNUAL.

THE AIRFRAME REQUIRED A GOOD INSPECTION, LUBRICATION, SERVICING THE NOSE STRUT AND SHIMMY DAMPNER, REPLACED THE LEFT BRAKES.

THE MIXTURE CABLE WAS REPLACED WITH NEW, REPLACED VACUMN AND INDUCTION FILTERS. ALL AD’S WERE CHECKED, AND THEN THE ANNUAL WAS SIGNED OFF AS WELL.

AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE ENGINE PICTURES WITH THE COWLING OFF, ALL IS INTACT, WITH NEW AIR FILTER, BUT THE PAINT CONDITION HERE IS POOR AS WELL.  LIKE THE AIRFRAME, SOME OF THE STEEL HARDWARE ON THE ENGINE HAS SURFACE RUST SHOWING.  THIS IS NOT AN AIRWORTHY ISSUE, OBVIOUSLY, AS IT WAS ANNUALLED THIS WAY, BUT IT IS A COSMETIC ONE, FOR SURE.

AFTER THE ANNUAL, THIS AIRPLANE WAS FLOWN FOR 20 HOURS, AND PARKED AT THE OWNERS HOME GRASS STRIP, WHICH IS WHERE IT TIPPED ONTO THE RIGHT WING.  WHEN THE INSURANCE COMPANY SETTLED WITH THE FORMER OWNER, HE JUMPED INTO THE PLANE, AND FLEW IT TO THE RAY, MICHIGAN COMMUNITY AIRPORT, WHERE IT IS CURRENTLY TIED DOWN.

HE FLEW IT, WITH NO ISSUES, NO PROBLEMS.

THE CARETAKER AT THE RAY COMMUNITY AIRPORT (57D) JUST CALLED ME AND ASKED WHEN WE WERE GOING TO FERRY OUR AIRPLANE OUT OF THERE.  HE WATCHED THE GUY FLY IT IN AND TOLD HIM WHERE TO PARK IT, SO HE KNOWS IT WILL FLY OUT !!

THE LOGBOOKS FOR THE ENGINE GO BACK TO NEW (NOT THE ORIGINAL FOR THIS AIRFRAME, INSTALLED IN 1973) AND ALL THE WAY TO NEW 10/1964 FOR THE AIRFRAME AS WELL.

FAA BILL OF SALE IS INCLUDED, AS ARE THE KEYS.

THIS IS NOT A PRETTY AIRPLANE, BUT THAT CAN BE FIXED, AND OFTEN IT CAN BE UPDATED AND PRETTIED UP A SECTION AT A TIME, AS YOU HAVE THE ABILITY.

THERE IS NO REASON TO SUSPECT THAT IT WIL NOT FERRY HOME TO YOUR AIRPORT JUST FINE (NO GUARENTY ON THE BATTERY CHARGE LEVEL).

THIS WILL BE THE CHEAPEST COMPLETE, FERRIABLE AIRPLANE I SELL ALL YEAR!
