 EVEN WITH AN OPEN CHECKBOOK FOR MAINTENANCE, THINGS HAPPEN.

 JUST AFTER ANNUAL, THE PILOT LOWERED THE GEAR FOR A LANDING THIS SUMMER, BUT IT ONLY WENT A LITTLE WAY DOWN BEFORE POPPING THE BREAKER.

 HAND CRANKING DIDN’T WORK EITHER, SO THE PILOT LANDED, KNOWING HE DIDN’T HAVE THE GEAR.

 ACTUALLY, THE RIGHT SIDE MAIN WAS SLIGHTLY DOWN, WHICH KEPT THE WHOLE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BELLY FROM GETTING SCRAPED. HOWEVER; BOTH NOSE GEAR DOORS, THE LEFT BELLY (FROM THE NOSE WELL TO THE TRAILING EDGE OF THE WING), BOTH INBOARD MAIN DOORS, AND THE FIBERGLASS SCOOP OF THE LEFT INTERCOOLER BLISTER HAVE SCRAPING. ONLY THE FIBERGLASS OF THE CENTER OF THE INTERCOOLER BLISTER IS HURT; THE INTERCOOLER AND COWL FLAP ARE OK.

 THE FLAPS WERE NOT DOWN, BUT THEY GOT HURT ANYWAY!!

 THE TOW TRUCK DRIVERS WERE CALLED TO REMOVE THE LIGHTLY DAMAGED AIRPLANE FROM THE RUNWAY. THEY DID WHAT TOW TRUCK DRIVERS ALWAYS DO TO AIRPLANES!

IT’S A WONDER THAT AN AIRPORT WOULD CALL SOMEBODY LIKE THAT, BUT IT STILL HAPPENS.

ANYWAY, THEY PUT A STRAP FROM THE FRONT TO THE BACK ON EACH SIDE WING. THIS CRUSHED THE LEADING EDGE SKIN (LUCKILY ENOUGH, IT’S A SEPARATE SCREW-ON ITEM ON THE DUKE, LIKE MOST TWINS), AND THE FLAPS, WHICH HAD NOT BEEN HURT IN THE GEAR UP!

 AS IF THIS WASN’T BAD ENOUGH, THE AIRPLANE WAS NOSE HEAVY THE WAY THEY LIFTED IT, SO IT CRUSHED THE REMOVABLE FIBERGLASS NOSE CONE, BUT NOT THE RADIO TRAY OR FRONT BULKHEAD.

 NOT DONE YET, THESE GENIUSES PUT A STRAP AROUND THE NOSE, AND PUT A SMALL WRINKLE IN THE SKIN ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE.

SO THAT DAMAGE WAS ADDED TO THE SCRAPED NOSE GEAR DOORS, THE SCRAPED INBOARD AND OUTBOARD MAIN GEAR DOORS, AND THE BELLY SCRAPING ALREADY DESCRIBED, AND SHOWN IN SEVERAL PHOTOS.

THE REAR TOP SKIN OF THE LEFT WING, JUST IN FRONT OF THE FLAP, HAS A SMALL DENT FROM THE STRAP.  THIS IS NOT A STRUCTURAL AREA OF THE WING, JUST A N OVERHANG OVER THE FLAP LEADING EDGE, AND IT MAY JUST MASSAGE OUT.

THAT IS THE FULL EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE TO THIS ENTIRE AIRFRAME !!!!!!!!!

THE WING STRUCTURES ARE NOT DAMAGED

THE AILERONS ARE NOT DAMAGED

THE WINGLETS AND EXTENDED FUEL TIPS ARE NOT DAMAGED

ALL 3 OF THE GEAR APPEAR UNDAMAGED, AND THERE IS NO ONVIOUS SIGN OF WHAT BOUND UP, CAUSING THE GEAR UP LANDING IN THE FIRST PLACE.

IF NOT FOR THE DAMAGED CAUSED BY THE LIFT STRAPS, THERE WOULD BE NO AIRFRAME DAMAGE VISIBLE AT ALL, AS THE BELLY SCRAPING DOES NOT EXTEND UP TO VISIBLE LEVEL.

THE PAINT IS STILL AWESOME, AND COULD BE TOUCHED UP ON THE LOWER, OF COURSE.

NO DAMAGE TO ANY OF THE WINDOWS, WHICH ALL LOOK GREAT.

NO DAMAGE TO THE BOOTS ON WINGS OR TAIL, EXCEPT THE SHORT ONES OVER THE INBOARD FAIRINGS.

NO DAMAGE TO THE CABIN STRUCTURE OR DOOR, WHICH FITS TIGHT.

NO DAMAGE TO THE TAIL FEATHERS OR TAILCONE.

BOTH TIO-541-E1C4 380 H.P. LYCOMING ENGINES HAVE SUSTAINED PROP STRIKES, AND OF COURSE WILL REQUIRE INSPECTION.

BOTH PROPS, WHICH WERE UNFORTUNATELY ON 31 HOURS SINCE OVERHAUL, ARE DAMAGED ON ALL BLADES

INSIDE, THE INTERIOR IS IN VERY NICE CONDITION, WITH GOOD VENEERS ON THE WOOD TRIM

AS YOU CAN SEE, THE AVIONICS HAVE BEEN REMOVED, AND ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS LISTING.
