R-26/ARC-5 3-6 Mhz. WWII Navy Aircraft Radio Receiver. Manufactured by Stromberg-Carlson. Contract Number NXsa-38868. Serial Number 12885.

I purchased this receiver at a hamfest around 2005. Because I had other ARC receivers, I used this particular receiver for display and interpretation/discussion. I believe the receiver to be unmodified. I didn't bother to power up. The vacuum tubes are the ones the receiver came with - I didn't test the tubes. If you want to use the receiver, double-check the filament wiring to be sure it hasn't been modified. The wiring doesn't look like it was modified, but check to be sure. You'll have to replace all the bypass capacitors. They are very likely to have all failed - very common for WWII era equipment.

Condition -
-Assorted small Paint Chips around the perimeter of the front panel, the side chassis and on top of rear chassis - please see the photos.
-Paint chip on Remote Control Dial near "MC".
-The Dynamotor Pins are not perfectly Vertical.
-Rear Deck, just below the Control Connector: the chassis pushed inward approx. 2-2.5mm. I never bothered to hammer it out. If you look really closely at the rear photo, you can just see it.

Front Panel Adapter MX-21/ARC5 - Slightly different shade of black compared to rest of receiver. Don't know how that happened - it's how I purchased the receiver. The Contract Number is the same, so it's the Panel for the receiver.

Top/Tube Cover - Notable because it has both the Remote Control Dial (3-6 Mhz.) AND the scarce Local Tuning Control (ARC part number 9554) attached to the lid.

Overall, I kept this as a display piece because it was so nice. If you're looking for a good, unmodified receiver with the cool dial and tuning control attached to the cover, please consider this one. I have no better receivers.

-IMPORTANT NOTE: The bypass capacitors in these WWII units have failed. Check all the capacitors before you apply power. Do Not Apply +250 volts during initial testing. Highly recommended you use a MUCH lower voltage like 25-50 vdc if you intend to repair and operate.

-Shown without the screws in place. Will supply all screws.

-I've had the receiver here for about 19 years. However, I've never powered this receiver up.
