1995 Vans RV-4 Aircraft Project w/ Lycoming IO-360-A1A

The RV4 was built after the RV3 was introduced to share the experience of flying. The RV4 holds two people and a moderate amount of baggage. Flown from the front seat only there is a stick on the back for the passenger to have a little fun. This is a retractable gears and tail wheel RV that is sought after. 

An excellent cross country machine, many couples routinely use the airplane as a long distance time machine. The ability to land at virtually any airport, the RV4 is capable of crossing half of North America in a day.

• 1/27/12 Removed engine for prop strike: engine tore down had crank, rods, cam and all gears magnifluxed and checked for proper clearances. New gaskets seals and crank bolt. Replaced all four cylinders with standard bore overhauled superior cylinders and new superior rings. 
• 8/1/11 Complete major overhaul new main bearings (STD), rod bearing (010), pistons (STD), crankshaft bolt reconditioned and balanced rods, cam, and crank gears all magnifluxed sealed and gaskets replaced.

Now this beautiful little plane suffered a prop strike upon landing bounced airplane landed but left side dropped and suffered belly, main gear and aft controls damage. Left gear sheared off, right gear bent and tail gear box bulkhead has damage. Both ailerons and elevators need repair or replacement. The left hand wing is only skin ding no puncture, both gear doors damage, the spars appear to be straight. Engine mount also has the option to mount fixed gear legs. Firewall appears straight the rest is sheet metal, since these types of plane are rivets and sheet metal the repair is straight forward. Interior nice tan with four point seat belts.
